About PIER & PIER Photonics

With a current Impact Factor of 9.3, Progress In Electromagnetics Research (PIER) is a leading multidisciplinary journal in photonics and electromagnetics, published by The Electromagnetic Academy (USA), which also organizes the Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium (PIERS). PIER is dedicated to publishing groundbreaking, high-quality research and significant invited reviews that advance the field, open new research directions, or solve long-standing challenges.

We are now inviting applications for early-career associate editors for the PIER journal family, including the premium new journal PIER Photonics. This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic, forward-thinking young scholars to shape the future of publishing in photonics and electromagnetics.

Who We Are Looking For

We seek enthusiastic, innovative early-career researchers from around the world who bring fresh perspectives and a collaborative spirit to the global research community. Ideal candidates should be eager to contribute new ideas and help elevate the impact and visibility of PIER.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. completed within the past 10 years.
  • A strong research background in photonics and electromagnetics, with at least 10 peer-reviewed journal publications, including 2 or more as first/corresponding author in high-impact journals (IF > 10).
  • Active involvement in current research within the field.
  • A genuine interest in academic publishing and community building.

Responsibilities

  • Invite top scientists to contribute high-quality invited papers (review or original).
  • Contribute to and solicit high-impact papers, which are expected to gain strong recognition in the field.
  • Assist in pre-screening and peer-review processes.
  • Serve as ambassadors for PIER journals—promoting at conferences, through social media, and across professional networks.
  • Propose new initiatives and contribute editorials or perspectives on topics relevant to early-career researchers.
